Some thirty eight TBA members and Llety guests assembled at Llety Farms in Carmarthenshire for the TBA regional open day.

Greeted by the master of Llety, David Hodge, in the warm summer sun, they were first treated to freshly home-made bara brith, cream scones, tea and coffee before David opened proceedings with a talk and a parade of the studs two resident stallion, Challenge Stakes, Gr2, winner STIMULATION and SAYIF, the Middle Park, Gr1, second and winner of the Diadem Stakes, Gr2.

Both horses looked magnificent, having recently finished covering duties for the year, and now enjoying a well deserved rest in the lush stallion paddocks. For many of the assembled it was there first chance to see the stallions in the flesh and they were not disappointed, with many admiring looks and comments forthcoming.

Next on the agenda was a tour of some of the mares and foals, about which David gave a small introductory talk, and look at the some of the superb grassland of which Llety is justifiably proud, before a look at this years crop of yearlings.

Llety has some 25 yearlings going up to the sales this year including a select draught in the opening sale of the year, the DBS Premier sale, and three Stimulation yearlings heading for Book 1 of Tattersalls October sales, who all brought appreciative comments from the gathering when they were viewed in the studs all weather paddocks.

The open day was then rounded off by luncheon at a local restaurant, The Half Way Inn, before people departed to their respective quarters of the compass, satisfied and happy having spent an enjoyable morning in the garden of Wales.
